Employment and freedom

Our partner sewing centres provide equitable and empowering employment for people who have experienced exploitation and discrimination. Because our purpose is social change, we intentionally partner with small, mission-aligned teams and work directly with the people who sew our garments. We do not permit subcontracting, allowing us to maintain transparency, build genuine relationships, and ensure supportive working environments at every stage of production.

We personally visit each centre and value the tailored approach they provide based on their employees’ needs, including access to healthcare, counselling, adapted work environments, and opportunities for education, vocational training, and continued employment. These direct relationships allow us to understand individual needs, monitor conditions firsthand, and ensure our partners’ practices align with our standards for dignity, safety, and fair employment.

Earlier stages of production, including fabric development and fibre farming, are independently audited through recognised third-party certification schemes, including GOTS and Lenzing’s auditing requirements, helping ensure workers’ rights and environmental standards are respected throughout the supply chain.

This commitment is formally outlined in Our Promise: People, Planet, Purpose — our code of conduct and statement of expectations that guides how we partner, produce, and operate. It sets the standards we hold ourselves and our suppliers to, ensuring that every Goodnap piece reflects our dedication to ethical employment, environmental responsibility, and meaningful social impact.

AIM EMPLOYMENT CENTRE

Svay Pak, Cambodia

AIM - Agape International Missions - is a humanitarian organisation rescuing, healing, empowering and protecting women affected by human trafficking and forced labour.

At AIM’s sewing centre, survivors are paired with experienced seamstresses and supported through a structured training pathway that builds confidence, independence, and long term employment skills. Makers have access to four on site counsellors, healthcare, and childcare during work hours, alongside living wages, accommodation, legal support, and diverse training opportunities. These holistic supports help ensure employment is not only safe and stable, but genuinely restorative.

Recently, some sewing team members have transitioned into new professional pathways including teaching and real estate, demonstrating the long term impact of skills development and empowerment.

In 2024, Goodnap provided training and employment for 133 survivors and women at risk through AIM’s Employment Centre.
